Debbie Allen tweeted yesterday that she would like to see the return of the hit sitcom A Different World that was a staple in African American late 80′s/90′s television.  A Different World ran from 1987 to 1993 and was a spinoff of the legendary sitcom The Cosby Show.

It would be interesting to see what type of spin they would put on the new era of Hilman College students and more interestingly who would be cast to ensure another hit.

I know it would be difficult to surpass the essence of the original show but I think it would be a welcomed addition to current broadcast options.  A Different Word provided a much needed positive portrait of Black America.

Much like The Cosby Show it also provided a very well rounded view of Black family, community and depicted a renewed focus in knowledge of self, education and cultural awareness.
